Firefly (Joss Whedon, 2002-cancelled)
Holy shit! I can’t believe I’m just getting to this. Watched the 2-hour pilot this afternoon and my mind was - albeit progressively - blown away. So odd and great at mixing genres, cultures and imagery, this feature all the great character writing you’d expect from Joss Whedon and all the silliness of an early 00’s space opera show. With only 14 episode - the show was cancelled like the much-loved Freaks & Geeks - I can already anticipate my heart break when it is all said and done. In the meantime, I can look forward to some Christina Hendricks and Nathan Fillion sexyness!

1st AD’d a “fake” trailer today. However it was the director’s first experiance as a director, previously was an actor. Mostly it was me and the camera man (DOP?) deciding the shots and then asking if “that looks ok?”
Wasn’t too bad though, met a lot of really cool people. Also it’s another project too add to my very small deflatable list of films i’ve worked on.
The trailer was called “In a Word” and it has some potential. However it won’t be entered in anything, wasn’t any sort of big production. Met a guy who was best boy’ing “Picnic Face” super cool guy. Maybe I’ll get a chance to PA on that sometime…

Suppose to blog…
Wow, haven’t been around lately. Well, currently finished the first year of film school in Halifax, N.S. Volunteering over the summer at William F. Whites, gatta love em’. However, I do need an actual job at some point… Ah’s the life of a student.
Just finished a thing called bootcamp. We make three short films (3-4 mins) in about a month. Firl Film Position: 1st AD/PM (actually had to make craft services on the day WHILE 1st ADing. Learned I had the super human power of being two places at once) Second Film Position: Sound and Editor. Fun position. I’d love to edit always, you know, after I’m done ADing. Third Film Position: Dirctor, Writer and Assist Editor. Well this was my first try on directing… that’s all i’m going to say.
Hopefully I’ll post them up sometime over the summer.
Besides this, best films I watched so far this year: HANNA and SOURCE CODE. Not going to say anything about them. Don’t watch the trailers. Just see them. (that’s what I did)

A little about me
Hey,
I’m currently a film student in Halifax, Canada I’m aiming to be a 1st AD and Editor for motion picture films. I have a small background in Vancouver but mostly i’m starting film from scratch. Hopefully I’ll be able to upload a few pics a vids on here. Nice to meet you all!!
